- U Ottamasara
- Sayadaw U Ottamasara is 37 years old, and has been teaching vipassana meditation in Yangon, myanmar, for the past 5 years as a monk. At the age of 29 he first encountered the teaching of the Buddha and theory of the emptiness of mind and matter. From then onward, he practiced diligently never to lose the awareness of the Truth that ‘everything is nothing’. after only 3 years of practice a deep realization of Truth was born in him, and out of gratitude for the buddha and his teahcers, sayadaw began to teach. with the main intention to correct the weaknesses of meditation methods currently being practiced in myanmar. in the year 2002 he founded the Real Enlightenment, wisdom sharing foundation for distributing materials to propagate the message of Truth. in 2005 he became famous as 'tsunami sayadaw' for a series of VCDs he produced that recounted the events of the tsunami and the lessons that it taught human kind, the effect was very powerful and to this day tsunami sayadaw remains a well-known name throughout myanmar.
